The works developed for the exhibition Il faut imaginer Sisyphe heureux.
Bisogna immaginare Sisifo felice ! were built by correspondence.
It was also built with softness and even if the idea behind of
corresponding someone is to receive something, it easily shows the opposite. I
think that it was on that edge, with the practice of drawing, that our exchange
of moods fitted so well. Nothing concrete to be said – even if dense – without
a deadline or a predicted format. Just to exchange some drawings over time.
Ironicly, the exhibition was assembled by the team of the street gallery
(BREVE MENTE gallery) at Montempor-o-Novo in Portugal, three days before the
lock down that confined most of the world for almost two months. This idea of
co-respondence presents itself to be a key factor to relieve the anxiety/discomfort
that prevailed in these unknown times.
We decided to
extend this correspondence beyond us by creating postcards with some of the
drawings presented in the exhibition.
In the back of each
postcard, we ask to the person who receives it to record and send us some
background sounds from his/her daily life, in order to make an online archive.
